Speed fix Sag Rods – Crown Care

Speed fix Sag Rods

British Purlins Speed Fix Anti-Sag Bars – Enhanced Structural Stability

At British Purlins, our Speed Fix Anti-Sag Bars provide effective lateral restraint to purlins, ensuring structural stability during installation and under wind uplift conditions. Designed for quick and easy installation, these bars feature a spring-loaded clip fixing system, reducing labor time while improving efficiency on-site.

Key Functions of Anti-Sag Bars

🔹 Prevents purlin twisting during erection – Ensures purlins remain stable before cladding installation.
🔹 Provides lateral restraint – Enhances structural integrity by securing the bottom flange under wind uplift conditions.

📌 Note: These details apply to roof slopes up to and including 25°. For roof slopes greater than 25°, please consult our Technical Department for expert guidance.

Anti-Sag Rods for Sections 125-266 Series

Speed Fix Anti-Sag Bar Specifications

  • Material: Manufactured from 1.6mm thick pre-hot dipped galvanized mild steel
  • Design: Cold roll-formed into a channel section with notched ends for easy installation
  • Pre-punched hole compatibility: Locates in standard pre-punched holes at mid or 3/8ths & 5/8ths span, held in place by a spring
  • Alternative Apex Ties: Made from 12mm diameter allthread zinc-plated finish

Installation Guidelines for Different Roof Slopes

For Roof Slopes of 10° or More:

✔ The purlin tends to roll backward – this is prevented by fixing anti-sag bars from the bottom hole to the top hole down the slope.
Speed Fix Anti-Sag Bars are fixed continuously over the apex for enhanced stability.

For Roof Slopes of 1.5° to 10°:

✔ The purlin tries to roll forwardanti-sag bars should be fitted from the top hole to the bottom hole down the slope to counteract this movement.

For Roof Slopes Up to 1.5°:

Standard anti-sag bars become ineffective at very low pitches. Instead, Speed Fix Anti-Sag Bars should be replaced with our Side Rail Supports.
✔ We recommend purlins be fixed in opposing pairs with side rail supports positioned between them for optimal stability.

📌 Note: For sections 300mm deep and over, 45mm x 45mm x 2mm angle struts should be used instead of Speed Fix Sag Rods for maximum strength.
